Biography:
Kun-Chih (Jimmy) Chen received the PhD degree from Nation Taiwan University, Taiwan (NTU), in Graduate Institute of Electronics Engineering (GIEE) in 2013. From October 2014 to January 2015, he serves as a postdoctoral fellow in Intel-NTU Connected Context Computing Center working on the development of Green Sensing Platform for Internet of Things (IoTs), Reliable Thermoelectric Converter, and Power-aware Software Defined Network (SDN). From February 2015 to July 2016, Dr. Chen joined the faculty of Electronic Engineering Department of Feng Chia University. From August 2016 to January 2023, he joined the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering Department of National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU). He was elected as the Distinguished Junior Research Professorship at NSYSU in 2022. He is currently an Associate Professor of Institute at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYSU). His research interests include Multiprocessor SoC (MPSoC) design, Neural network learning algorithm design, Reliable system design, VLSI/CAD design, and Smart manufacturing.
Prof. Chen has served as a Guest Editor of IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems (JETCAS), Systems Architecture (JSA), and Nano Communication Network (NanoComNet). Additionally, he has been the General Chair of the International Workshop on Network-on-Chip Architectures (NoCArc) and the Technical Program Committee Chair for both NoCArc and IEEE MCSoC. Currently, he is serving as a reviewer for many international journals and international conferences, such as IEEE Transactions on Computers (TC), IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS), IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and System (JETCAS), IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integrating (VLSI) Systems, IEEE Asian Solid-State Circuits Conference (A-SSCC), IEEE Int. Symp. Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), etc.
Prof. Chen has received several prestigious national and international awards, including the Dr. Ta-You Wu Memorial Award of NSTC (i.e., Presidential Early Career Award of Science and Engineer, PECASE award, in Taiwan), Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering (CIEE) Outstanding Youth Electrical Engineer Award, Taiwan IC Design Society Outstanding Young Scholar Award, Exploration Research Award of Pan Wen Yuan Foundation, IEEE Tainan Section Best Young Professional Member Award, Asia Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association (APSIPA) Distinguished Lecturer, TCUS Young Scholar Innovation Distinction Award, VLSI-DAT Best Paper Award, and PhD Dissertation Award of IEEE Taipei Section. Under his leadership, his research team became the first in Taiwan to win the IEEE ISCAS Best Student Paper Award and IEEE TVLSI Best Paper Award. He is an IEEE senior member, ACM member, life member of Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering (CIEE), Asia-Pacific of Signal and Information Processing Association (APSIPA), and Taiwan IC Design Society (TICD).
